teachers of American history and their students Our mission is to help get to know and love the buffalo or bison, our country’s NEW National Mammal. We welcome everyone who wants to join us on this incredible journey—young people, especially Native American youth, buffalo experts, parents, grandparents and buffalo ranchers. “Everything you ever wanted to know about buffalo,” you can read it right here. We’ll find the answers you need!
My vision is to share the fascinating and often surprising truths I’ve learned about buffalo in the last 35 years. With your help, we’ll keep discovering the facts and lasting legacy of the buffalo through thousands of years—these hardy and amazing animals.
Whatever you yearn to know about these magnificent animals, we’ll provide the answer. We’ll make every effort to discuss your questions—and find answers—through books, histories, the experts, records, check lists and handling strategies. You’ll find all that and more in this blog and website: Buffalo Tales & Trails.
Together, we’ll share the wonderful first-hand stories that never grow old, that are told over and over, around campfires and classrooms and lecture halls—and new stories, too. We’ll fill these pages with scientific facts as well—all about this mighty monarch of the prairie and plains.
We’ll generously support our two nations—the US and Canada—that love and protect this majestic mammal and keep buffalo accessible in many parks and refugees for all who enjoy the excitement and tranquility of visiting them.
Along the way, it’s extremely rewarding—and not difficult at all—for each of us to become something of an expert of the species. You’ll be amazed.
So please join us on this Buffalo Tales & Trails adventure! Enroll your children, your aunts and uncles, your teachers, and become an active part of the Buffalo Family Legacy!
